Lake Mana - Drake CMS Template
Lake Mana

It has been a long time that I have not peek into Drake CMS. with the upcoming release of the stable version, I tried creating a demo site for Drake with a template called Lake Mana.

The CSS for Drake is very different that made me almost back out, however, reading into the lines and basing on the default template, I finally created a new one.

This template has a typography which shows how the contents could be presented. Likewise, modules could be presented differently using diffrent classes. Please have a look at Lake Mana Demo.

Yellow Pages Directory Released
The Yellow Pages Directory add-on is now initially released for download. This is Version 1.0 Beta. Download the zip file at the download section of Loadfactor.

This add-on is compatible with Limbo CMS Version 1042. Previous versions are not compatible. It shall be installed as a new component, however, the administrative functions are all found at the front end. No backend configuration is available. For any issues, please post your it at Loadfactor Forum.

During the testing of this component, I have experienced some issues pertaining to some web host. since this is a large component with several database tables, the execution time during installation is an issue, if you experience this problem, please post it on the forum and a manual installation procedure will be created to solve this problem.

Also this is a new format of component and is not compatible with the existing SEO class of Limbo CMS. I will be creating a new SEO class to solve this issue.

By the way, I have moved the Limboforge Forum to Loadfactor, all users in the previous forum are still enabled in this new forum. Likewise, Limboforge will also be moved to Loadfactor on a later date. the reason for this is that, I will be canceling Limboforge soon.

A New Component - Update
Update: A demo of this Yellow Pages Directory is found at Loadfactor. Login to be able to add a business. Username/Password: guest/guest.

Limbofreak.com will be celebrating its 2nd year anniversary by next month. I will be releasing a new component for to commemorate this. It is taking me a long time to complete because I am only doing this on my spare time. As I have always said before, I only do programming as a hobby not as a profession.

The new component is called Yellow Pages which enables web publishers to create a business directory listing for their Limbo CMS sites.

yellow pages

Yellow Pages features are:

  • Built-in Categories and sub-categories. Administrators could add necessary or delete unwanted categories/subcategories.
  • Separate Category / Subcategory table. Yellow Pages uses a different database tabe from the Limbo component category table.
  • Stand-Alone-Styling. This componet uses its own CSS file. It is not affected by the default template styling.
  • Built-in API. It uses its own API thus having a little bit different URL from the usual Limbo component.

There will be two versions for this component. A lite version and a pro version. The pro version additional features are:

  • Automatic web page screen capture
  • Paid Listings

100,000th Click
Loadfactor or previously known as Limbofreak got it's 100,000th click. I am not expecting to go this far. But now it got it. There is an unprecendented joy in me.

As a celebration of this success, I have created an extension class of the Automatic Keyword generator class to create an automatic linking of the keywords generated by the Automatic Keyword Generator class. I have called this class as Autolink Keyword class which I will be porting to Limbo-CMS within the month.

Initially, I have released the Autolink Keyword class at PHPClasses.

A Drupal Experience
I have always been searching for other CMSs which suits some website applications which I have been engage with. During this process, I have tested several CMSs, Drupal is one because of the hypes that I have read.

My Drupal experience is a mixed up of good and bad things. The good things, Drupal has a clean coding and depending on the theme to be used, it could easily pass XHTML 1.1 validation. The basic editor has almost all features that a simple website need.

Limbo Security Alert
A highly critical Limbo Security Alert was posted at Limbo Forum. A more detailed explanation was posted on Secunia.

Solution:

  • If you have the File Manager already installed in your Limbo, delete the file admin/components/fm.install.php.
  • Delecte all the files under the directory components/components/com_fm under your LImbo root directory.
  • Or uninstall the old file manager then install the version 1.0.4.1

A patched File Manager is available for download at the download section.
