Roadsend.com or PHPClasses.org - My Losing End

Three (3) weeks after the announcement of the winners of the Programmining Innovation Award for July 2006, I am still not able to redeem my award from the competition. I selected Roadsend Compiler after evaluation on which prize will suit my current requirements. I was then very ecstatic on informing the competition organizers about my chosen prize as I do not want to get defaulted.

After more than a week of waiting, there has been no information about how I will redeem my award. Manuel Lemos (info@phpclasses.org) told me that he alreadt informed Roadsend about my interest in getting their product as a prize. Likewise, he informed me that if I will not be contacted by Roadsend until the end of last week (15 September 2006), I will inform him. I did what I was told to do. However, I did not get any response from Manuel Lemos anymore nor from Roadsend.

I also sned an email to Roadsend Customer Support Marcy Peterson (marcy@roadsend.com) informing him about my situation, likewise, I got no response from him.

New SEO Class
This new SEO class of Limbo employs mod-rewrite and the regex capability of Apache. Windows users will not be able to benefit from this feature.

The URLs will be transformed into a Search Engine Optimized form ending in html. All the variables (option, task, catid, id and Itemid) are combined into logically to form a single filename for the page. The reason for this is that, there will be no hacks required for images and other files using relative URLs.

Load Factor is already using this SEO, thus you are sure that it is working fine. As a reminder though, please read the TO DO text before uploading the files into your live site.

Note: I may have missed some links, which could make some pages unavailable. If you discover, please post it here so that I may be able to include.

A New Face, A New Endeavour
A new face, a new endeavour for Limbo Freak.

The new look of Limbo Freak or now named Load Factor means that it will be able to provide support to other CMS in addition to Limbo-CMS. The public release of two classes (simplecaptcha and automatice keyword generator) is the initial step towards this endeavour.

Content sites often use keywords to better describe the topics of published articles.

The keywords may help the sites being better indexed by placing the keywords in the page META tags.

Another useful application of the keywords is to build tag clouds that give a better idea of which are most popular topics of a site.

Usually the authors or moderators need to specify the article keywords.

In some cases, it is not convenient to ask the contributors to enter the article keywords, as it is a tedious task that they may not be interested to do.

In other cases, it may not be viable to ask the contributors to associate tags, as the articles were already submitted before keyword association was implemented.

This class provides an automated solution to suggest relevant keywords to be associated to the text of an article.

It provides an alternative solution to the situations described above, on which it is not convenient or viable to ask the original contributors to associate keywords to their articles.

Boundless Boundaries
I have always been focusing myself to supporting Limbo-CMS thus this site came into being. After the perish of the Limbo-CMS official website, LimboFreak and LimboForge continued to support the orphaned Limbo-CMS.

This situation became an eye opener for me to trek other pathways. I started posting my classes in PHP Classes. I am not expecting that I will be able to get good ratings for my scripts. I will be contributing more scripts to this site in the future.

As part of a decision to explore the boundless boundaries of the internet, I created a new site ITSimplePlace. I just started it as a blog the express myself. But sooner, I will be posting future scripts in this new site.
